8/8

Monday we will have 8,000 copies of our gorgeous arts & cultural magazine’s premiere issue!  Especially if you showed work, performed, or volunteered at or before our ~100 venue, 6 party June 24-26 HK: ArtiST ’11 Festival, write to get your free copy!  128 pages saturated with superb art, photography, fiction, poetry, interviews, features from/of Hell’s Kitchen art & biz. institutions, art contemplation, modern masters, insider skinny on our open studios, wild stories, more from surreal/absurd through the sublime.  This is a highly personal & idiosyncratic peak at deeply felt idea(l)s & visions.  Just promise that you will read most of it, absorb our feelings, truly see us.  Then share; pass it & attendant aesthetic passion around!

In about a month you & guests are cordially invited to attend our launch soiree & after party.  At a multi-room local venue with garden, again starring HK: ArtiST member art & performance.  Then also on Restaurant Row: our 3 floor, theater loving favorite locale hourglasstavern.com.  Both are stately, charming, & will feature gratis local cuisine, drink, select entertainment, & promotional surprises.  Want to show work &/or have a sort of set/show?  Inquire herein.

There are some special plans to attract potential investors, patrons, art impresarios-particularly in the publishing & advertising worlds.  One PR giant with 100′s of int’l offices we continue to pursue for a collaborative literary creative project.  We are now accepting applications for public relations help with this plan & for launch events, dates TBA.

Many concepts & groups listed already for next edition.  Add your own voice & 300 DPI (usable) art/photos-submit here at your leisure.  But for now, want to volunteer & meet many great artists, organizers & NYC biz. owners?  Choose from distributing magazines &/or helping out at these parties, PR or at these events.  HK: ArtiST hand painted shirts still offered in return!

Also next week: visit again our by then revamped Promo Page, for Sponsor/Media Kits, HK Artists’ Guild (we will fully incorporate this & separately “At the Edge”) business plan, many HK: ArtiST videos, Press Releases, facebook, twitter, tumblr & flickr, etc…

Two no cost events to recommend: BWAC.org is a Red Hook Arts Festival with 4 weekends left in their summer show.  A highly romantic area & 2 floor Civil War era building displaying 100′s of artists, old-timey shows, on water with ravishing views, inc. of Lady Liberty & a Fairway with seating & antique buses & trolleys in back.  Our maps, postcards & “At the Edge” covers front & back highlight many HK: ArtiST member’s work; reflecting on glass, seen mischievously voyeuristic through windows…Recruited from 2 BWAC.org exhibitors; fractal art & even an ironic angel alighting on Hell’s Kitchen no longer so mean streets!

Yes, we threw in the proverbial (Hell’s) Kitchen sink.  One of these carefully chosen pseudo-secret (& sexy) apt. window tableaux was contributed by the stunning & so talented Tracy Von Becker.  Here is her solo show opening, food, drinks, music, “…based on NYC’s hottest night life Diva’s, boys & other mysteries.”  The Village’s Path Cafe, 131 Christopher Street, Tuesday August 2nd, 6-8 PM.

Thanks to many is in order: from all Hell’s Kitchen Artists in Studio Tours members & festival participants to our sponsors/advertisers, party , art & performance venues-all listed on ourWeb Site home page & our 4 sided Festival map.   Appreciation to our picnic/meeting guests, Bar Nine for not only our 1st ever (’09) & last party, but STORING most of our cherished magazines securely.  Gorgeous place to eat, drink & see live music.

A special shout out to Shweiki Media, our patient, gracious printing Co.  Even with delivery from afar, they were a better deal than any local source, Uber-Professional: don’t mess with Texas indeed!  ;-)

While many helped to some extent, a humble to awed fealty is owed to those who spent many daaaze of their time for the love of Art, HK, our causes, & out of pure, altruistic kindness.  Editors: Cindy Horowitz was 1st, Traffic Manager, & invaluable-as was William Farmer.  Also taking time from a busy schedule, this could NOT have been done (well) without the unique talents in print layout & art direction of Editor in Chief Charles J. Rosenthal.  Graphic Design help came from many, including this odd leader’s coincidental namesake, Mike Felber, Mike Wolf, PR expert Ofer Caspi was a tirelessly inventive advocate, Mike O’ Reilley a great map builder, Constantine Konis a steady right hand man, Jacy Topps on 4 social media sites…What they often did even at Midnight, 2 AM despite F/T jobs.  Thank you folks beyond what I can rightly say.  You made beauty.
